Eight levels of music theory practice tests (assessments) to help students of violin and other treble instruments prepare for the Washington State Music Teachers Association Music Literacy Program (MLP). Most questions are appropriate for all treble instruments, except the ones that reference fingerboard diagrams or string-playing terminology. This downloadable PDF contains blank practice tests plus full answer key. The questions cover concepts that students will encounter at each level of the Written Theory tests. (Levels 9 and 10 are not differentiated from the keyboard assessments, so they are not included here.)

Practice tests and answer keys were developed by the WSMTA member who created Written Theory tests for violin students. A one-time purchase licenses studio teachers to make unlimited copies for their students. G’DAE Music “Theory for Everyone!” Books contain music theory lessons and worksheets that will help students prepare for these assessments.
